Hogwarts Legacy features dozens of side quests that offer players deeper insights into the wizarding world while rewarding curious explorers with special items and gold. Among these optional endeavors is A Friend in Deed, a side quest involving Sirona Ryan and her long-time acquaintance, Dorothy Sprottle. Completing this journey allows players to assist a trusted friend while making dialogue choices that impact your character's reputation and reward payouts.
How to Unlock and Begin the Quest
To initiate the A Friend in Deed side quest, players must first complete the main storyline mission titled High Keep. After finishing this milestone, head over to The Three Broomsticks tavern in Hogsmeade to speak directly with Sirona Ryan. She will ask you to visit her friend Dorothy Sprottle in Upper Hogsfield to collect a shipment of Horklump juice and retrieve a box of old letters.
Travel north from Hogsmeade to Upper Hogsfield using the local Floo Flame network or your broomstick. Once you reach the quiet hamlet, locate Dorothy Sprottle standing outside her cottage near the garden plots. Speaking with her clarifies that while she can provide the potions, Sirona's letters are located inside a nearby cavern infested with magical beasts.
Exploring the Cavern and Retrieving the Letters
Follow the quest marker leading to the nearby cavern entrance, preparing yourself for combat before entering the underground passage. Inside, players must navigate through narrow stone corridors filled with aggressive Mountain Trolls and swarms of Horklumps. Gamers who follow daily gaming news often recommend equipping fire spells like Confringo and Incendio to quickly break through obstacles and manage enemy groups.
Explore the cavern thoroughly to gather extra Horklump juice nodes scattered along the damp floorboards. Near the end of the cave system, defeat the final wave of enemies to safely access Sirona's personal letter box sitting on a wooden crate. Collect both the letter box and any remaining ingredients before returning to the surface.
Returning to Upper Hogsfield and Sirona
With Sirona's belongings in hand, head back to Dorothy Sprottle in Upper Hogsfield to deliver the collected Horklump juice. She will express her sincere gratitude and encourage you to take Sirona's personal box directly back to Hogsmeade. Fast travel back to The Three Broomsticks to finalize the quest with Sirona.
During this final conversation, players are presented with dialogue options regarding how they handle the delivery of the letters. You can choose to hand over the box selflessly or request additional compensation for your efforts in retrieving her personal property.
Understanding Character Choices and Quest Rewards
Choosing the friendly dialogue option maintains a positive tone with Sirona, reinforcing a warm relationship with one of Hogsmeade's most influential residents. Requesting a reward will earn you extra Galleons, though Sirona will comment on your mercenary attitude. Ultimately, this choice does not permanently lock you out of future content, giving players full roleplaying flexibility.
Completing A Friend in Deed rewards players with valuable Experience Points and a unique gear appearance to customize their wizarding outfits. Taking time to finish these character-driven side quests enriches the overall storytelling experience across the Scottish Highlands.
