What is an EVP?
EVP is an acronym for employee value proposition. The EVP defines the “give and get” of the relationship. For their efforts, employees will receive benefits that include pay and benefits, but also other intangible benefits like a supportive environment, opportunities for career growth, etc.
EVP vs. employer brand
The EVP and employer brand are similar in that they both convey the benefits that the organization provides. The EVP, though, is an internally-facing statement, while the employer brand reflects how the company would like those outside the organization—customers and prospects—to view it.
What are employee value proposition examples?
EVPs can take a variety of forms—from short and pithy, to long and formal. For instance, Google’s EVP is “Do cool things that matter.”
PwC’s EVP is: “From empowering mentorships to customized coaching, PwC provides you with the support you need to help you develop your career. You’ll work with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to solve important problems. Are you ready to grow?”

A strong EVP will:
Convey a clear benefit to employees.
Accurately reflect what the company has to offer.
Be unique—what does your company uniquely offer that others don’t?
How to create your own employee value proposition
Your EVP is a statement of what you offer your employees in exchange for their time and effort. Of course, what you offer must represent value to the employee (hence the V in EVP). The best starting point for creating your own employee value proposition is a clear understanding of what employees want and value.
Talking to, or interviewing employees, can yield some useful insights into what they value, as can conducting a poll or survey to gather their input. The EVP should link what the company has to offer to what employees most value.
